The wonderful world of miniature
Postal heritage and railway museum
Immerse yourself in the marvellous world of miniature and let yourself be surprised by a sound and light animation featuring, not only the walking life, but also the historical and tourist sites of the Ariège crisscrossed by numerous railway convoys and road vehicles.
In a passenger car of 25 meters long, air-conditioned, you will discover a railway model of the most elaborate. It was produced by a passionate team and took about 40,000 hours over two years. A real spectacle where you will live the time of a dream: the day, the night under the stars, and even the storm on the mountain, and the unusual sometimes...
THE CASTLES
Usson
The castle of Usson, located in the canton of Quérigut, Donezan country, emerges from the high Pyrenean forests. First mentioned in the early 11th century, it is the fortress of the ancient lords of So and Alion. After having constituted a refuge for the perfect Cathars, it served as ramparts against the Spanish invasions in modern times.
Visit the remains of the castle as well as the Heritage House, a place of memory and discovery, with its archaeological vertigos and models.
During the opening periods, free visit, guided tour on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2 pm to 4 pm (in July and August).
Sunday guided tours from 2PM to 3PM (September).
Access to the castle is on foot, allow a quarter of an hour from the parking lot on tarred road.
Many animations: falconry shows, track games, historical re-enactments.
Lordat

From the top of its spur (965m) overlooking the Ariège valley, with its 2 enclosures, Lordat is considered one of the largest medieval fortresses of the former county of Foix.
Comtal then royal, Cathar den, built in several phases, it is mentioned in writings as early as 1030, it experienced an occupation from the 11th to the 17th century.
It offers a remarkable panorama on the bottom of the valley. Approach walk to the castle of about 10 minutes.

The elements of the history of Montsegur and its Castle that we have with certainty have been established from historical documents, notably the archives of the Inquisition, but also from the results of archaeological excavations undertaken for several years on the site. The history of this new castrum by Raymond de Péreille, called Montsegur II by archaeologists, is closely linked to the history of the Cathars of Languedoc.
There are eight of them.
Eight sublime castles camped between Aude and Ariège claiming the coronation of Unesco. From the City of Carcassonne to the Castle of Aguilar through those of Lastours, Montsegur, Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens, Termes and Quéribus, all have in common an incomparable beauty and an exceptional history that give them an obvious universal value.
400m² talc museum space in Luzenac. An immersive and playful place that reveals all the secrets of talc and the history of the men and women who built this fabulous Ariège industrial epic!
This space invites you to discover the world of talcum powder, from its extraction to its transformation thanks to a visit path composed of many visual devices and games. In a dedicated space, follow, as if you were there, the talcum powder from its extraction to its arrival in your home with a 180° screen. Young and old alike, immersion is waiting for you: interactive materials will be there to guide you!
THE CAREER OF TRIMOUNS
Located at an altitude of 1700 m above the village of Luzenac, Trimouns is the largest talc quarry in the world in operation and the only one in operation in France. The view of the Pyrenees is unique, in fine weather we can distinguish the plateau of Bonascre, the plateau of Beille, the Tarbésou peak or the Pic du Montcalm!

Montaneô, hydroelectricity and biodiversity
Mountaneô is a museum space dedicated to hydroelectric production, biodiversity and mountain discovery. Discover its resources and the animals that populate it! Find interactive materials to discover the Orlu National Reserve.
The hydropower plant
The tour of the hydroelectric power plant is included in the Mountaneô tour ticket and offered by EDF. Mandatory registration at the reception of Mountaneô to take part in the visit, within the limits of places available.
This power station is located a 10-minute walk from Mountaneô, on the banks of the Oriège River. Departure is from the reception of Mountaneô, accompanied by a guide.
